We have two senior teams that both play in the York & District Senior Cricket League, pitting us against some of the strongest teams across North & East Yorkshire.
In 2017, our newly promoted 1st XI (unbeaten in the 2016 league season) will be battling it out in the Premier Division, with our 2nd XI competing in Division 3 Ebor - see Yorkshire Cricket Pyramid.
Cricket at Whitkirk starts at the Under 9 age group (School Years 2, 3 & 4) progressing through to the Under 15s (School Years 9 & 10) and always welcome new players. Our junior teams play in the Wetherby Junior Cricket League as well as additional U11 & U13 teams in the Leeds Junior Cricket League and U15 team in the Pontefract Junior Cricket League, hopefully continuing on from the many successes that they achieved last year and maintaining the talented supply of players to our 1st and 2nd XIs. For junior age groups please refer to the relevant junior manager.
The Club has some of the finest facilities in East Leeds and the wider area, including a fully enclosed two-bay artificial net facility built in 2007, Electronic Scoreboard fitted in 2010, PVC Sightscreens purchased in 2011 and new replacement roll-on covers acquired in 2015. In 2017, our new grass practice wickets will continue to be in frequent use by the Senior squad, in addition to our artificial nets which are in regular use by our numerous junior teams.
Additionally, the Club is proud to be a part of The Whitkirk Club along with the Football, Bowling and Tennis clubs. With its superb recently refurbished clubhouse, bar and thriving social club - and with BT Sport now shown as well as Sky Sports, there is an increased range of sport available to enjoy, meaning the club can now show all televised Premier League & Championship matches, UEFA Champions League, Rugby League as well as County and International Cricket. So if rain's stopped play or it's outside the cricket season, remember that high quality sport is still available inside, with alcoholic and soft drinks all readily available!
The adjoining function room (incl. bar) is available for hire by members. For more details regarding The Whitkirk Club, please click here.
